CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT NO. 2 - OCTOBER 14TH ELECTION
Constitutional Amendment No. 2 would expand an existing property tax exemption for the total assessed value of the homestead of the unmarried surviving spouse of a person who died while on active duty as a member of the U.S. Armed Forces or Louisiana National Guard, or while performing duties as a state police officer, law enforcement officer, fire protection officer, emergency medical responder, technician, paramedic, or volunteer firefighter. The exemption from ad valorem property tax would become effective January 1, 2018 if the constitutional amendment is passed by voters.
